About Gambini Meccanica
Gambini Meccanica SRL specializes in the manufacture of transmission components for mechanical drives, in particular racks, gears, pinion shafts and worms/worm wheels. Founded in 1978 in Pesaro (Italy), the company carries out the entire machining chain in-house: CNC machining, gear cutting, grinding, heat treatment (induction hardening, case hardening, quenching and tempering), straightening as well as quality control with its own metallographic laboratory. Quenched and tempered and case-hardening steels such as C45, SAE1141, 20MnCr5 and 16MnCr5 are used. Racks are manufactured in qualities Q5 to Q10 with single pieces up to 3000 mm in length. The company supplies industries such as industrial automation, robotics, machine tools, material handling and packaging machinery in more than 46 countries and maintains sales subsidiaries in Munich and Suzhou (China).

Materials and Processes
C45
Quenched and tempered steel for racks and gears with a balanced ratio of strength and toughness; approx. 550–600 N/mm² mechanical strength.
SAE1141
Steel with approx. 800 N/mm² strength, enabling smaller cross-sections at the same performance and thus savings in cost and weight.
20MnCr5
Manganese-chromium case-hardening steel for highly loaded racks and gears with high surface hardness and a tough core after case hardening.
16MnCr5
Case-hardening steel that is induction hardened after case hardening in order to limit distortion and precisely set the case depth.
Induction hardening
Local heating by induction followed by quenching for targeted surface hardening, also tooth by tooth, with low risk of distortion.
Case hardening
Carburizing of the surface layer followed by hardening for high surface hardness with a tough core.
Quenching and tempering
Hardening and tempering to improve strength, toughness and structural stability.
Grinding
After heat treatment, grinding restores the tooth profile within tight tolerances and improves positioning accuracy and backlash behavior.

Quality and Certifications
Gambini Meccanica manufactures racks in qualities Q5 to Q10 (single-piece error up to ±0.005 mm at Q5) and operates its own metallographic laboratory in Pesaro with hardness testing (HRC/HV/HB) as well as magnetoscopic inspection (MT) for crack detection. Heat treatment certificates and section samples for verification of the case depth are available on request.
