About gPlug
Gantrisch Energie AG (GEAG), based in Schwarzenburg, develops and distributes low-cost IoT adapters under the gPlug brand for the customer interfaces (CII/P1-DSMR, HAN) of smart meters installed in Switzerland. The adapters (gPlugD, gPlugD-E, gPlugK, gPlugM) are based on the ESP32-C3 microcontroller and the open-source firmware Tasmota; the electronic circuit boards are developed as an in-house board design at GEAG. The read-out energy data is integrated into the local network via WiFi or Ethernet, displayed on a locally generated web page, and passed via HTTP or MQTT to smart home systems such as Home Assistant, ioBroker, openHAB or Loxone. In addition to the hardware products, the company offers firmware scripts, installation aids and technical support for selection and commissioning. Sales are conducted through its own webshop; an adapter for the Landis+Gyr E450 smart meter is in development. The compatibility of the products with various Swiss smart meter models has been tested and documented.
