About Tautermann Production Nursery
The Tautermann production nursery in St. Johann im Pongau is an Austrian family business specializing in the cultivation and production of ornamental plants. On 3,500 m² of glass and foil area plus 800 m² of open-field production area, around 350,000 plants are produced each year, including poinsettias as well as bedding and balcony plants. Production covers semi-finished, raw and finished goods; sales go exclusively to resellers such as nurseries and flower shops, mostly in the province of Salzburg. The plants are delivered in reusable packaging, and pot sizes can be adapted to customer needs thanks to flexible production. The greenhouses are heated with biomass energy, irrigation uses collected rainwater, and through the use of around 700,000 beneficial insects annually and effective microorganisms, chemical plant protection is reduced to a minimum. In addition, the production nursery offers individually tailored soil mixes, consulting, guided tours of the business and an annual review of new varieties at trade fairs and research institutions.
