About Gebr. Engelke
Gebr. Engelke Große Mühle Hasede-Hildesheim GmbH & Co. KG is an owner-managed food production operation for wheat flours and ranks among the largest private mills in Germany. The parent mill in Hasede on the River Innerste has been owned by the Engelke family since 1714 and is now run by the eleventh generation. The group also includes the Magdeburger Mühlenwerke in Magdeburg and the Oderland Mühlenwerke in Müllrose. The company produces tailor-made wheat flours, including special flours such as CCC-free flour (free of the shoot-shortening chlorocholine chloride) and kosher flour. The wheat is sourced directly from the surrounding agriculture of the Hildesheimer Börde. Since 1 January 2022, the three sister mills have been producing with 100% electricity from hydropower thanks to long-term supply contracts with the Städtische Werke Magdeburg, saving around 10,000 tonnes of CO2 per year.
