The Company
Gebr. Krippeit GmbH is a sawmill founded in 1958 by Walter Krippeit in Elsdorf-Westermühlen (Schleswig-Holstein) and is today family-owned in the fourth generation. The company processes approximately 17,000 fm of oak roundwood annually and supplies sawn timber to the European flooring and construction industries. The product range includes edged oak sawn timber (standard cut 30 mm), lamellas, farmhouse boards, structural timbers such as square timbers, sleepers and board goods up to 12 m in length, as well as block goods in various thicknesses. In addition to hardwoods such as oak, beech, ash and maple, Douglas fir and pine are increasingly processed; furthermore, the sister company Gebr. Krippeit Massivholz GmbH produces firewood, bark mulch, wood chips and shavings for end consumers. The roundwood comes from sustainably managed private and state forests in Germany within a radius of approximately 300 km and is transported with the company's own haulage fleet, which has existed since its founding. After the major storm at the end of 2013, the company's own transport capacities were significantly increased.
