Gebr. Schmachtenberg GmbH was a tool factory based in Cologne specialising in the manufacture of shear blades, guide bars and cutting tools, particularly from stainless steel. Production comprised the processes of planing, milling, grinding and hardening. According to trade registers, the product range also included profile knives, arc-cutting knives (swing-cut knives) as well as blades for scrap shears and baling presses. In addition to its own manufacturing, the company operated sales and trading of its products including export and import; wholesale of iron, steel and iron and steel semi-finished products is also documented. The business was entered in the commercial register of the Cologne Local Court (HRB 663) on 15 June 1934; after insolvency (2015), liquidation (2016) and the annulment of the insolvency proceedings (2022), the company was deleted ex officio in 2023 due to lack of assets.
