About GELO Holzwerke
GELO Holzwerke GmbH in Bad Weißenstadt in the Fichtelgebirge has been producing sawn timber products since 1898: solid structural timber (KVH) with finger-jointed connections, list-cut timber up to 13.25 m in length and 330 x 395 mm dimensions, boards, shuttering boards, laths, planks, cross lumber, frames, rafters as well as industrial timber joinery. At the headquarters in Bad Weißenstadt, 250,000 solid cubic meters are sawn annually; around 60,000 m³ of KVH are produced there per year. The GELO Timber small-diameter sawmill, opened in 2019 in Wunsiedel, processes logs with top diameters of 8 to 25 cm into glulam laminations at a sawing volume of 350,000 solid cubic meters per year. The process spectrum includes log measurement by laser technology, sawing on a LINCK chipper line, edging with infrared scanner, technical drying in 13 fresh-air/exhaust-air chambers, dip impregnation, IPPC heat treatment and planing on two planing mills. Spruce, fir, pine and Siberian larch are processed. Customers come from the construction industry, timber frame construction, interior fitting, furniture manufacturing, landscaping, packaging industry and forestry. Together with the subsidiary companies WUN Bioenergie and ZARELO, residual materials are also processed into pellets and firelighters.
