About the Municipality of Obfelden
The municipality of Obfelden is a political municipality in the district of Affoltern in the Canton of Zurich, Switzerland. It was established on 15 February 1847 through the separation of the five civil municipalities of Unterlunnern, Oberlunnern, Wolsen, Toussen and Bickwil from Ottenbach. The municipal administration at Dorfstrasse 66 offers services in the areas of residents' registration, construction, finance, fire services and cemetery services. The Real Estate department manages and administers the municipality's own properties, rents out apartments and rooms and is responsible for structural maintenance. Current projects include the Obfelden bypass road (ODO), the development of the post site, the expansion of the Zendenfrei multi-purpose halls, the connection of the wastewater treatment plant to the Reuss-Schachen wastewater treatment plant, and the expansion of the Isenberg water reservoir. Industrialization began in 1837 with the cotton and later silk weaving company Stehli in Oberlunnern.
