About Ökostrom Schweiz
Ökostrom Schweiz is the professional association of agricultural biogas producers in Switzerland and is organised as a cooperative with more than 200 members. The members operate biogas plants that ferment slurry and organic by-products such as grass cuttings, kitchen waste and waste from food businesses. Electricity and heat are produced from the biogas in CHP units; in addition, biomethane, biogas heating fuels and biogas fuels are marketed. The cooperative coordinates the utilisation of organic residual materials Switzerland-wide via a network of 120 agricultural biogas plants and offers disposal solutions including logistics to industrial companies and municipalities. Further tasks are the marketing of CO2 reduction certificates in cooperation with the KliK Foundation, political advocacy, market development, research as well as training and further education. The head office is located in Winterthur, with further branch offices in Kiesen and Lausanne.
