About geopfalz
geopfalz GmbH & Co. KG is a municipal project company based in Speyer that is developing the deep geothermal project “Rhein-Pfalz”. The joint project of the cities of Speyer and Schifferstadt with their municipal utilities aims to make the heat supply of the Vorderpfalz climate-neutral, price-stable and independent of imported fossil fuels in the long term – especially since the district heating supply from the Großkraftwerk Mannheim will end in 2030. Planned are multilateral (branched) boreholes into the Upper Rhine Graben as well as a geothermal heating plant feeding into existing and new district and local heating networks. The project is scientifically accompanied by the agEnS research consortium with partners from science and industry. The mining-law permit at the State Office for Geology and Mining Rhineland-Palatinate is being prepared; geopfalz informs citizens about the project at regular information events.
