About GEPARD-Aerospace
GEPARD-Aerospace GmbH is developing an AirLaunch concept for transporting small satellites and CubeSats into orbit. A rocket is carried by an aircraft to a launch area over the North Sea, away from populated areas and above the weather layer, released and ignited. The launch system is specifically tailored to the CubeSat segment and is intended to replace RideShare missions in the long term. For this project, the company received the Lower Saxony Innovation Award in 2021. In addition, GEPARD-Aerospace is planning a spaceport in Germany: in cooperation with DLR, the feasibility study "Spaceport Rostock-Laage" was prepared in 2020 on behalf of the Ministry of Energy, Infrastructure and Digitalization and the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The approach envisions using existing infrastructure and sustainably developing it further, with a focus on environmentally conscious technologies.
