About GeQD
GeQD – Germanium Quantum Detectors is a spin-off venture from the Institute of Semiconductor Technology (IHT) at the University of Stuttgart, based on campus in Stuttgart-Vaihingen (Pfaffenwaldring 47). The company develops Ge-on-Si SPAD detectors (Single-Photon Avalanche Diodes) based on germanium that enable scalable single-photon detection in the wavelength range of 600 to 1550 nm at room temperature. The CMOS-compatible technology is positioned as an alternative to InGaAs detectors and SNSPDs (superconducting nanowire detectors). Target applications lie in SWIR photon counting at 1550 nm, in quantum sensing and in the LiDAR field. GeQD is a member of QuantumBW and of TUM Venture Labs Quantum & Semiconductor and offers development services for CMOS-compatible photodetectors.
