About German LNG Terminal GmbH

German LNG Terminal GmbH, based in Brunsbüttel, is currently building and will operate from 2027 a land-based import terminal for liquefied natural gas (LNG) on the Elbe, near the entrance to the Kiel Canal. The combined import and distribution terminal on a site of approx. 31 hectares comprises two full-containment storage tanks with a net capacity of 165,000 m³ each. After commissioning, the company will act as an independent operator handling the receipt and unloading of LNG carriers up to Qmax size, intermediate storage, loading onto road tankers and rail tank cars, as well as regasification and feed-in to the German natural gas grid or to directly adjacent customers. The infrastructure is designed to also enable the import of hydrogen derivatives at a later stage. Planning and construction are managed by the general contractor CS Gas North S.L., a joint venture of COBRA and SENER. Shareholders are KfW (50%), Gasunie (40%) and RWE (10%).
