GEWOBA Emden is a municipal housing company of the City of Emden whose primary business purpose is to provide a secure and socially responsible housing supply for the population of Emden. The company was founded in 1939 and manages around 1,000 own and externally managed apartments as well as 130 garages and parking spaces; in addition, there are approximately 7,300 m² of commercial space alongside more than 55,000 m² of residential and usable floor area (as of 2018). The range of services includes the letting of apartments and commercial space, third-party property management, operating cost management as well as refurbishments and modernisations. Maintenance and repairs are carried out by in-house tradespeople in the customer service department, supplemented by an emergency service. The company operates in Emden/East Frisia and is based in Emden.

   Founded on 21 January 1939 as “Gemeinnützige Wohnungsbaugesellschaft Emden mbH” with the aim of improving housing conditions in Emden

2. 1990

   Renamed in November 1990 to “Gewoba Emden – Gesellschaft für Wohnen und Bauen mbH” (repeal of the Housing Non-Profit Act)
