About GILDA Kaffeemaschinen AG
GILDA Kaffeemaschinen AG, based in Cham (ZG), develops and assembles the Swiss espresso machine GILDA®, a dual-boiler portafilter machine for private customers, offices, practices and bistros. The machine, the coffee grinder and accessories such as the GILDA Box (tamping station with knock-out drawer) were developed by MTE Engineering AG in Lucerne. Over 90% of all components come from Switzerland, the rest from the EU; production takes place in various Swiss manufacturing plants, and assembly is done by careful handwork in Cham or Lucerne. The machine features a stainless steel housing, an infinitely variable PID temperature controller and a measured annual energy consumption of around 100 kWh (verified by Eurofins Product Testing AG). Walnut handles for portafilters and tampers are handmade in a small woodturning workshop in the Lucerne hinterland. Distribution is through selected specialist retailers and an online shop, complemented by personal advice, tasting events and technical support.
