Optimization of thermal-metallurgical processes
GIWEP GmbH is an independent and autonomous company based in Mülheim an der Ruhr that optimizes processes in thermal-metallurgical plants in terms of quality and efficiency. Founded in 1987 from the combination of the Institute of Industrial Furnace Construction at RWTH Aachen and Mannesmann Röhrenwerke, its range of services covers engineering services such as thermal calculations and plant design, measurements and plant investigations, temperature survey trials, performance tests and furnace certifications as a neutral third party, as well as the planning and execution of plant modernizations. In addition, GIWEP develops and implements PC-based process control systems (Level 2, furnace computers) for heating furnaces, heat treatment furnaces, melting furnaces and cooling lines, atmosphere control systems, offline models for process simulation, measuring technology, quality data analysis systems and modular heat storage units for waste heat recovery from 100 kW to 10 MW. Customers are plant operators and plant manufacturers in the steel, foundry, non-ferrous metal and light metal industries, whose end customers include companies from the aerospace, petroleum and automotive industries. Numerous plants worldwide have been equipped with GIWEP systems, including in Brazil, Turkey, Iran, China and Sweden.
