Glas Fischer GmbH in Germering is a long-established glazing contractor with origins dating back to 1912 in Chodau near Karlsbad. The company manufactures and installs glass products for private, commercial and public clients: canopies, all-glass shower enclosures made of 8 mm toughened safety glass, all-glass doors and systems, mirrors, balcony and balustrade glazing as well as glass roofs and project glazing. In addition, thermal, insulating and sound-protection glazing, insulated glazing, emergency and repair glazing are carried out. In its own glass grinding shop, glass is cut to size and provided with drilled holes, cut-outs and edge grinding, including satinated and lacquered glass. Historically as today, lightweight-metal door and window construction, bullet-resistant armoured-glass counters for banks and savings banks, and glass block work are part of the range of services. History of the Family Business
- 1912
Ferdinand Fischer founds a glazing business in Chodau near Karlsbad; after his death, his sons Karl and Franz continue to run the company until the beginning of the Second World War.
- 1946
After the expulsion, Karl Fischer relocates the company to Unterpfaffenhofen.
- 1965
Karl Fischer and his son Roland are the owners; six trained staff carry out architectural, art and leaded-glass work, insulated glazing, lightweight-metal door and window construction, bullet-resistant armoured-glass counters for banks and savings banks, glass block work and picture framing.
- 1980
Roland Fischer hands over the architectural glazing business to Manfred Schäufler and Ludwig Billmeier; the two found Glas Fischer GmbH.
- 2001
Ludwig Billmeier leaves the company; Werner Lihl (with the company since 1981) becomes his successor and runs the firm together with Manfred Schäufler.
- 2004
Manfred Schäufler retires; Werner Lihl becomes sole managing director.
