The glass fusing manufactory
The Glas-Stadl in Oberrieden near Altdorf is a glass fusing manufactory where Elgin and Bernd Kriegisch produce handmade one-of-a-kind glass pieces from molten and fusing glass. The range includes garden objects, glass tiles, sun catchers, door and architectural glazing, corporate logos in glass as well as religious glass art and custom-made pieces. Crystal glass, window glass and flat glass are processed; pieces cut with glass cutters are combined with granulate, nuggets and coloured glass beads and fired in the melting furnace at 850 °C, creating the characteristic wavy surface structure. In addition to the manufactory with a showroom and glass garden, the company offers courses, seminars and further training – from beginner courses to corporate seminars and school projects. With the mobile glass creative workshop, the artists come to events such as corporate events, childcare facilities and parish festivals, including at SCHOTT Technical Glass Solutions in Jena. The fusing glass products and designs have been protected as utility models since 02.03.2005.
