About Glastechnik Kirste
Glastechnik Kirste GmbH & Co. KG is a medium-sized company located at the traditional site of Remda in Thuringia, near Erfurt, Ilmenau and Jena. The company processes flat and hollow glass, primarily made of borosilicate glass, quartz glass and soda glass, and manufactures complex glass components using CNC machining. The range of services also includes the production of calibrated glass tubes made of DURAN® (borosilicate glass 3.3), glass grinding, the manufacture of measuring cylinders for the highest demands, and the development of special products. Working with technical glass has a tradition of more than 100 years in the region between Ilmenau and Jena; special links exist to the Jena site with regard to scientific instrument manufacturing. Cooperations with Friedrich Schiller University Jena (Otto Schott Institute) and the Technical University of Ilmenau contribute to the development of new products and are put into practice by experienced employees. One funded project involved the acquisition of thermo heating furnaces with PLC and multi-axis linkage system for the heat treatment of precision glass tubes. The company supplies customers in Germany, Europe and worldwide.
