About Global Beam Technologies
Global Beam Technologies AG, based in Maisach near Munich, is an internationally active company in the field of electron beam technology and develops and manufactures electron beam machines and systems for welding, drilling and surface treatment. GBT was formed from the merger of Steigerwald Strahltechnik GmbH with PTR Strahltechnik GmbH, two pioneering companies in EB technology; more than 60 years ago, Dr. Steigerwald already brought electron beam technology into industrial application. The product range includes large-chamber and small-chamber EB machines, indexing machines, Non-Vac machines for atmospheric EB welding, and production machines for mass-produced parts of the EB K series, which can be integrated into fully automated lines and cells with transport and loading equipment. In addition to machine building, the GBT group offers contract manufacturing and welding trials on its own EB machines as well as service and maintenance. Customers come from the automotive and supply industries, aerospace, turbine engineering, mechanical and electrical engineering, medical technology, and research and development; reference customers include Rolls Royce, MTU, ZF and Volkswagen.

Materials and Processes
Electron beam welding (vacuum)
Joining of complex workpieces with low heat input, high welding speed and the ability to join material combinations.
Atmospheric EB welding (Non-Vac)
Welding without a vacuum chamber and without evacuation time, also economical for bulky workpieces.
Electron beam drilling
Precise drilling with the electron beam as a complementary machining process.
Electron beam hardening
Hardening of components using EB technology as a heat treatment process.
Surface modification
EB-assisted surface treatment for targeted modification of component properties.
Metals and material combinations
EB processes are suitable for joints that are difficult or impossible to realize with other fusion welding processes.
