About Globalwine

Globalwine AG was founded in Zurich in 1998 and has been based ever since in the former Binz industrial area. The company, with around 25 employees, operates an online wine trade with over 800 wines and spirits sourced directly from the wineries. In parallel, since 1999 Globalwine has been advising wineries on viticulture and takes over distribution as well as winemaking consulting; oenologist Alain Bramaz has been active as a consultant and winemaker for over 25 years in Argentina, South Africa, Spain, Italy, Portugal and Switzerland. From these partnerships emerged, among others, the Quinta do Zambujeiro winery in the Portuguese Alentejo as well as the cooperation with Dieter Meier (Ojo de Agua, Ojo Negro, Puro). Since 2001, Globalwine has also operated its own winery, Villa Santo Stefano, near Lucca in Tuscany, with organic cultivation. All wines are tested and tasted before being added to the range, delivered chilled in special transports and stored in the company's own temperature-controlled wine warehouse in Zurich.

Quality and Sustainability

All wines are carefully inspected and repeatedly tasted before being added to the range. Transport is carried out chilled in special transports, storage in the company's own temperature-controlled wine warehouse in Switzerland.

History

1. 1996

   Dieter Meier acquires the Estancia Ojo de Agua in the province of Buenos Aires (foundation of the collaboration).

2. 1998

   Founding of Globalwine, based in the former Binz industrial area in Zurich.

3. 1999

   Start of the consulting business: support of wineries, distribution and winemaking with Alain Bramaz as oenologist; among others, the Quinta do Zambujeiro winery was created.

4. 2001

   Start of the Villa Santo Stefano winery near Pieve Santo Stefano near Lucca (Tuscany) with organic cultivation.
