GLYCON Biochemicals GmbH is a development, production and sales company for biochemical reagents located in the Biotechnology Park in Luckenwalde. The company manufactures and distributes a broad portfolio of products for protein and membrane protein research, including non-ionic detergents such as alkylglucopyranosides and alkylmaltosides, ionic detergents, sugar phosphates, cholesterol derivatives such as CHAPS and CHAPSO, and carbohydrates. In addition to its catalogue business, GLYCON offers custom synthesis: saccharides and glycoconjugates not included in the catalogue are produced to customer specifications, on a small scale from 1 g to 10 kg. For purification, column chromatography with volumes of up to 25 liters is available; contract production for third parties is also accepted. Since March 2020, the company has additionally been developing a new class of DIBMA and Glyco-DIBMA reagents for gentle extraction of membrane proteins into lipid bilayer nanodiscs.
