About GLYN

GLYN is a specialist distributor of electronic components founded in 1980 and headquartered in Idstein (Hesse). The company distributes semiconductors, Computer on Modules, displays, wireless solutions, power electronics, sensors and flash storage media – including its own industrial memory brand Xmore. In addition to distribution, GLYN offers technical consulting and application support through FAEs, a design service for CoM baseboard prototyping, and, via partners, production of the baseboards including PCB fabrication, component sourcing, assembly and testing. Further services include a programming service, international sourcing, incoming goods inspection with ESD protection in accordance with the CECC standard, and logistics concepts such as blanket orders, safety stock, consignment stock, Kanban and EDI. Around 70 technical field staff, product specialists and application engineers support thousands of customers across Europe; target markets are industrial electronics, measurement and control technology, drive technology, medical technology, telecommunications and automotive. In addition to its headquarters with the European central warehouse in Idstein, GLYN maintains sales offices in Nettetal, Hamburg, Pforzheim and Unterhaching as well as a European SUPPORT network.

Quality assurance to DIN EN ISO 9001:2015 covers the entire distribution of electronic components, including enhanced incoming goods inspection with ESD protection in accordance with the CECC standard and material analysis by digital microscopy. As an Authorised Economic Operator (AEO, since 2009) and ERAI member, GLYN also monitors supply chain risks.

1. 1980

   Founded by Glyn Jones on 2 April in Niedernhausen; focus on Japanese semiconductors, NEC as first franchise partner, customer magazine “Semiconductor-Times”.

2. 1984

   GLYN memory comparison list for development and purchasing.

3. 1990

   Construction of the new company building in Idstein on the A3, near Frankfurt.

4. 1996

   Orientation towards embedded systems since the first Embedded Systems in Sindelfingen.

5. 1999

   Opening up to new franchise partners: from Japanese microelectronics to high-tech distribution.

6. 2000

   Foundation laid for the low-cost starter kit series.
