About Gotion Germany Battery GmbH
Gotion Germany Battery GmbH, headquartered in Göttingen, has been part of the Chinese battery manufacturer Gotion High-Tech since April 2022. Gotion High-Tech was founded in Hefei in 2006 and specialises in the development, production and marketing of lithium-ion batteries and energy storage systems. The Göttingen site, a former Bosch plant, was acquired in 2021 and is the group's first battery production and business operation site in Europe, with around 250 employees. Battery cell production in Göttingen started in September 2023. Gotion High-Tech manufactures both lithium iron phosphate batteries (LFP) and nickel manganese cobalt batteries (NMC), as well as cathode and anode active material. As a technology partner of the Volkswagen Group, Gotion supports the construction of the unified cell factory in Salzgitter with factory layout, equipment and production processes. Group-wide, the company operates plants in China, Germany (Göttingen) and Fremont, California; in 2025 its global market share was 3.5 percent.
