About Gratus Weinwerkstatt

Gratus Weinwerkstatt is a sole proprietorship of Andreas Smolle in Götzens near Innsbruck and has been producing red wines in Burgundian style since 2018, primarily from the St. Laurent variety, and from 2026 also Pinot Noir. The grapes come from organically farmed vineyards in the Thermenregion and are harvested by hand. Processing is done manually from harvest to bottling: mash fermentation in small containers of 150–350 liters, pressing, malolactic fermentation, and aging in multiply-used barriques and partly in stainless steel tanks. The wines are bottled without fining and filtration using gravity alone; every cork is inspected individually. Sales are via on-site farm-gate sales by appointment, online shipping to Austria and Germany, as well as through wine trade partners.
