Lauscha glassblowing tradition since 1848
Greiner-Mai GmbH "DER CHRISTBAUM" is a Lauscha glassblower family with a craft tradition dating back to 1848 and operates a Christmas workshop with a retail store and production facility in Neuhaus am Rennweg in Thuringia. The company manufactures traditional Christmas tree ornaments made of genuine glass based on Lauscha models, including mouth-blown Christmas baubles, figurines, bells, olives, glass birds and Christmas tree toppers. During glassblowing, the glass is heated in front of the lamp to approximately 1,300 °C and shaped by hand; the pieces are then silvered by hand, dipped in the base color, filigree-decorated and sprinkled with glitter. The manual production makes every piece a one-of-a-kind item. The family business, now in its 6th generation, supplies end customers through its retail store as well as an online shop and offers its range in multiple languages (including German, English, French, Spanish, Italian, Dutch). In 2008, the "Thuringian Winter Fairytale" range decorated the Christmas tree in the courtyard of lights of the Federal Chancellery in Berlin.
