Groeber Mannheim Lichtwerke GmbH handcrafts designer luminaires of the Epstein brand for indoor and outdoor applications at its manufactory in Linz am Rhein. Production is carried out by hand using high-quality natural materials such as multicoloured slate, black slate and sandstone as well as quartz sand, wood, carbon and plastics; metals are also processed. In addition to manufactory production, the company offers three service areas: certified lighting design in accordance with DIN EN 12464 using software such as DIALux and pCon Planner, optical design of lenses, reflectors, light guides and LED-based lighting systems including thermal management and simulation with Zemax OpticStudio, as well as custom luminaire construction ranging from the individualisation of existing models to the development of one-of-a-kind pieces. In addition, the company modernises existing luminaires through LED retrofitting, builds prototypes and functional demonstrators using rapid prototyping (3D printing for housing parts) and delivers standards-compliant photometric data (IES, EULUMDAT). Customers come from the luminaire industry, mechanical engineering with industrial image processing, medical technology, research as well as offices, retail, gastronomy, industry and logistics. Services are offered throughout Europe; in 2021 the GmbH acquired the long-established Epstein brand in its second generation.
