About the Gründungsfabrik Mönchengladbach

The Gründungsfabrik Mönchengladbach (GFMG) is a publicly funded project of Wirtschaftsförderung Mönchengladbach GmbH (WFMG) that offers founders from the region free support on their way to self-employment. The offering includes practice-oriented workshops on topics such as choice of legal form, taxes, marketing, financial planning and corporate culture, individual 1:1 coaching, the Macherinnen-Gemeinschaft mentoring program, and the SME innovation program KMU-Zukunftsschmiede in cooperation with Heinrich Heine University. In addition, the GFMG operates network formats for the local start-up scene with the GFMG-Starterclub and the MeetupMG organized jointly with nextMG e.V. Through the WFMG initiative skillzUP, funded by the BMWK and the state government of North Rhine-Westphalia, 13- to 23-year-olds are also trained in digital further education topics such as coding, AI, design and data analysis. Partners include the IHK Mittlerer Niederrhein, WFMG, nextMG e.V. and universities in the region. The project is based at the Mühlenstraße 2-4 location in Mönchengladbach; funding of the free offerings is limited until the end of June 2027.
