About GYS
GYS was founded in 1964 as a transformer manufacturer in Laval (France) and today, with more than 900 employees, is one of the internationally significant manufacturers of welding and cutting equipment, battery chargers and jump starters, body repair equipment, and induction devices. The company manufactures with a high level of vertical integration at its headquarters in Saint-Berthevin near Laval: highly automated electronics production, mechanical manufacturing, transformer winding (copper), cable assembly, sheet-metal fabrication from steel sheet, and a centrally controlled powder coating line with screen printing. The company's own research and development center, occupied in 2014 and staffed by more than 90 engineers, includes measuring, climate, and shielding rooms for analyzing welding behavior. The products are aimed at automotive workshops and body repair shops, the trades, and industry. Every day, more than 1,000 devices leave the plant in Laval for more than 130 countries; sales subsidiaries exist in Germany (Aachen), China, Spain, Italy, and the United Kingdom.
