About hûs

hûs Architektur und Handwerk combines an architecture office and a craft business specialised in historic building techniques under one roof. The company accompanies the conversion, restoration and change of use of historic buildings in the Swiss Alpine region, from purchase advice through building survey, cost estimate, preliminary design, building permit application and project planning to construction management. In its own workshop, restored and reconstructed historic windows and doors are produced – from single-glazed storm windows to specially developed insulating-glass windows in a historic context. Further services include solid-wood joinery such as furniture, built-in furniture, panelling and wall cladding, the laying and restoration of wooden floors and staircases, as well as mineral surfaces: rammed, trowelled or ground lime floors, lime plasters as site-mixed batches with local aggregates, insulation plasters based on biochar, and custom-made concrete worktops for kitchens. The combination of planners and craftsmen enables early planning and cost certainty as well as high execution quality on site.
