Experts in heat treatment since 1948
HÄRTEREI REESE is an owner-managed family business with four heat treatment centers in Bochum, Brackenheim, Chemnitz and Weimar. Founded in 1948 by Dr.-Ing. Helmut Reese, the company with around 240 employees performs heat treatment and finishing processes for steel and other metallic materials. The range of processes includes hardening and tempering, case hardening, low pressure carburizing, surface layer hardening (induction, flame, laser), vacuum hardening, gas and plasma nitriding, nitrocarburizing, annealing as well as straightening and surface treatment. With more than 200 heat treatment installations, large components up to Ø 5.000 mm and 50 t unit weight are treated just like small parts in series production. Customers come from mechanical engineering, plant engineering, wind power, offshore, shipbuilding, automotive supply, toolmaking and gear technology. The offering is complemented by design and manufacturing consulting, a metallographic laboratory, testing and documentation, as well as its own pickup and delivery service (HÄRTEREI-EXPRESS).

Materials and processes
Steel (alloyed and unalloyed)
Base material for all hardening, tempering and nitriding processes, also in large dimensions up to 50 t.
Nitriding steels (DIN 17211 / EN 10085)
For gas, plasma and vacuum nitriding with high surface hardness and wear resistance.
Low-alloy case hardening steels
Case hardening, carbonitriding and low-pressure carburizing for wear-resistant surface layers.
Powder-metallurgically produced steels
For low-pressure carburizing with high dimensional accuracy and low distortion tendency.
High-alloy steels
Heat treatment for demanding corrosion and wear applications.
Carbon and carbon-manganese steels
Covered by the DNV approval for shipbuilding and plant engineering components.
Cast components (special annealing)
Special annealing processes for cast components for microstructure conditioning and stress relief.
