About Hamacher Maschinenbau and Hotlineglass
Hamacher Maschinenbau GmbH in Aachen has been developing and manufacturing special machines and systems since 1949, including design, mechanics and electrics. Core areas are wire-laying machines for heating fields made of tungsten wire on PVB films (drum machine PSW for mass production, CNC table machine PST for small and medium series), busbar laying machines as well as centrifuges, joint milling machines and profile-ground toothed belt molds, toothed and knurled rollers in steel ST52-3 or aluminum with hard chrome or nickel surface. The subsidiary Hotlineglass GmbH, founded in 2005, produces in three cleanrooms (approx. 400 m²) PVB and EVA films coated with heating and antenna wires for heatable automotive, construction and roof glass – from prototypes to OEM large-scale series, including CNC contour cutting and 100% functional testing. Customers include Ford and Volkswagen; wire-laying systems are in use in almost every EU country as well as in the USA and China.

Materials and Processes
Tungsten wire
Heating wire from 16 µm diameter for almost invisible heating fields in laminated glass.
Copper wire
Antenna wire from 76 µm for wire antennas in windshields.
PVB (polyvinyl butyral)
Film in the glass sandwich onto which heating and antenna wires are laid before the glass lamination process.
EVA / EVAC (ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer)
Alternative thermoplastic film material for laminated panes.
Steel ST52-3, stress-relief annealed
Material for toothed belt molds, toothed and knurled rollers.
Aluminum
Roller material as an alternative to steel.
Tinned copper busbar (6–12 mm)
Busbar for bonding and soldering onto PVB.
Hard chrome or nickel coating
Surface finish for profile-ground rollers.
Laminated glass / laminated construction glass
End product into which the coated films are incorporated as heating fields or antennas.
