About Fraas Sawmill
Fraas Sawmill in Arzberg in the Fichtelgebirge is a family-run wood processing business in its second generation. Hans Fraas took over the site in 1982; since 2021, Armin Fraas has led the operation, which trades as Hans Fraas & Sohn e.K. Sawn timber is produced on a gang saw that has been in operation since 1886; the plant dates back to the 15th century as the Wiesenmühle and is the oldest mill in Arzberg. The sawmill supplies itself with renewable energy through its own turbine-operated Wiesenmühle hydroelectric power plant (in operation since 1948); the company is a member of the Landesverband Bayerischer Wasserkraftwerke eG. Customers come from the construction and manufacturing sectors as well as the timber industry. Continuous modernization of the technology enables short delivery times and customized order processing.
