About the Domhof Brewery

The Domhof brewery has been located in the heart of Speyer since 1988, directly next to the UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Imperial Cathedral of Speyer. In the brewery with a viewable brewhouse, four types of beer are brewed all year round: Helles, Dunkles, Weizen and Pils, complemented by a seasonal Bock beer (May and December) as well as an in-house Bock brandy. The beer is served in the restaurant, sold at the brewery's own sales outlet in 0.5-liter mini kegs and 5-liter party kegs, and supplied in kegs of 10 to 50 liters including a tap system for festivals and events (order at least four working days in advance). In addition to the restaurant with classic German and international dishes, three event rooms and a beer garden open from April to September, the Hotel Domhof, opened in 1990 with a parking lot and underground garage, is part of the offering. The historic site was once the Ratshof, an inn for kings and emperors as well as the seat of the Imperial Chamber Court; foundation walls can still be seen in the underground garage today.

History of the site

The Speyer city council purchases the property from the Ebelin family and makes it the Ratshof – an inn for kings and emperors.

Charter of King Charles V.: 'hern Ebelins hof' is referred to as an inn of the Empire.

Protestation of Speyer at this location – the origin of the Protestant Church.
