About Heimatbrauerei
The Heimatbrauerei GmbH in Straubing, known as Röhrl Bräu, is a medium-sized brewery in Lower Bavaria with origins dating back to 1431, when monks of Metten Abbey founded a brewery inn. The company produces top-fermenting beers (including Straubinger Weisse), bottom-fermenting beers (including Hell, Pils, Export, Gäuboden Festbier) and beer mixed drinks such as Radler and Russ using the traditional brewing process. The beer is brewed according to the Bavarian Purity Law of 1516 with the brewery's own beer yeast from its own breeding; the beers mature in deep storage cellars at the site on Heerstraße, to which the brewery relocated in 1929. Beer output is around 65,000 hectoliters per year. The brewery supplies beverage retailers and gastronomy establishments in the local region, operates 13 of its own inns and is represented at the Gäubodenvolksfest in Straubing with an 11-horse team. In 2008, the Sillner family took over the traditional brewery; in July 2024, Brauerei Röhrl was merged into Heimatbrauerei.
