About us

ILSEMANN CARBON is the Bremen branch of Heino Ilsemann GmbH, specializing in the design, tooling and manufacture of carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) components. The company draws on the experience of the ILSEMANN Group, which has used CFRP in its automation and packaging solutions since 1998. The processing capabilities include hand lay-up, resin infusion, prepreg processing out of autoclave, curing in the mold as well as structural bonding, complemented by waterjet cutting and milling of solid carbon. This produces carbon grippers, transfer arms, brackets, workpiece carriers and fixtures with mechanical engineering tolerances, and where required also cleanroom-suitable products for medical technology. Customer industries include mechanical engineering, aerospace and medical technology as well as customers with more individual requirements. Delivery is handled worldwide via logistics partners; on-site installation and commissioning are part of the service offering.

Materials & Processes

CFK

Carbon fiber (CFRP)

Main material for lightweight, dimensionally stable components such as grippers, arms, brackets and carriers with mechanical engineering tolerances.

Handlaminieren

Hand lay-up and vacuum consolidation

The oldest CFRP manufacturing processes in the company, used for robot arms since 1998.

Infusion

Resin infusion

Introduced in 2004 and now the dominant process; by 2007 already 75% of components were manufactured with it.

Prepreg

Prepreg processing (out of autoclave)

Used since 2020 for demanding components such as satellite components as part of the EFRE project SAKURA.

Kleben

Structural bonding

Joining technique for complex components; in 2018, bonding of an 1800-mm CFRP rectangular profile with ±2/100 mm accuracy.

WJS

Waterjet cutting

Cutting process for CFRP panels, among other things in the flexible CFRP gripper system.

Fräsen

Milling of solid carbon

A special milling machine enables machining of even thin-walled solid carbon components, e.g. workpiece carriers.

Alu

Aluminum (including Al inserts)

Integrated as a component in CFRP parts such as the carbon transfer arm.

Einleger

Printed plastic and metal inserts

Integrated into thin-walled CFRP hollow profiles, for example in transfer arms for the pharmaceutical sector.
