About Heinrichsthaler
Heinrichsthaler Milchwerke GmbH is a dairy in Radeberg, Saxony. Founded in 1880, the company specializes in the production and processing of hard and semi-hard cheese and produces varieties such as Edam, Gouda, Tilsiter, butter cheese, Emmentaler and Maasdamer as well as specialties such as wild garlic cheese, fenugreek cheese, Radeberger Bierkäse (beer cheese) and the child-friendly "Käsefüße" (cheese feet). Around 50 percent of grated and sliced cheese production goes to bulk consumers such as catering companies, the other half to food retail, including private-label production for nationwide chains such as Aldi, Lidl, Rewe, Edeka, Kaufland and Netto. Since 2006, the company has also been producing lactose-free cheese. The soft cheese for which the dairy was known in the late 19th century is produced as contract manufacturing according to the original recipe at the second production site in Falkenhain near Leipzig. The medium-sized company with an annual turnover of more than 200 million euros employs over 350 staff and has been exporting worldwide since the beginning of the 20th century.
