About HEION GmbH

HEION GmbH is a German company with the HEION CLEAN DIESEL process, which upgrades conventional diesel fuel into a more environmentally friendly variant. At the core of the process is a reactor in which regular diesel is mixed with water: the water is split into oxygen and hydrogen, whose molecules attach to components of the diesel and thus contribute to cleaner combustion. According to the company, soot particle emissions, nitrogen oxide concentration, CO2 output and consumption are reduced. The process was developed by inventors from North Rhine-Westphalia over six years, is patented, and is being further developed in collaboration with several universities. The first plant is located as a test installation at the energy company Schuster und Sohn KG in Kaiserslautern. The target group consists of freight forwarders and logistics and transport companies; in the medium to long term, distribution via filling stations in the Palatinate is planned.
