About HELMA
HELMA is an owner-managed, medium-sized company based in Sittensen (Lower Saxony), specializing in the trading, processing and packaging of table potatoes and table onions. The value chain comprises the procurement of goods primarily from regional producers, sorting, cleaning and hand sorting, packaging and labeling according to customer requirements, as well as order picking and delivery via its own haulage company with 33 tractor-trailer units. At the 7-hectare main site near the A1, the facilities include a packing line with electronic sorting, a cold storage hall for 7,000 tonnes and a ULO hall (Ultra Low Oxygen) for residue-free onion storage. Since 2021 the company has been expanded through HELMA Südwest GmbH in Beindersheim (Rhineland-Palatinate, 5.5 ha). The company celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2022, building on a trading tradition dating back to 1922; in total, HELMA employs around 225 staff at both sites.
