About Hengstenberg

Hengstenberg GmbH & Co. KG is a family business founded in 1876 in Esslingen and produces fine acidic foods: sauerkraut, red cabbage, pickled gherkins, vinegars, delicacies, fermented cabbage products as well as ready-to-eat salads. The white cabbage and red cabbage is 100 % sourced from German cultivation, predominantly from contract farmers within a radius of about 25 kilometres around the production plants, and is processed fresh – including shredding, fermentation or cooking down, filling and pasteurisation. The Bad Friedrichshall plant (180 employees) produces gherkins, sauerkraut, red cabbage and vinegar; the Fritzlar plant (157 employees) is regarded as Europe's largest sauerkraut plant. The headquarters are located at the company's home site on Mettinger Straße in Esslingen am Neckar, and a sales office in Wels manages sales in Austria. In the Food Service / B2B sector, Hengstenberg supplies bulk consumers with brands such as Hengstenberg, ORO di Parma and as distributeur Pomito.
