About the Woodturning Workshop
Hergen Böttcher runs a woodturning workshop in Bremen with an attached sales showroom. The product range includes hand-turned pepper, salt and nutmeg mills as well as wooden kitchen utensils such as spoons, spatulas, barbecue tongs, cooking and serving cutlery, salad servers, a mashing pestle, coffee and tea scoops, honey dippers, a citrus press, a rolling pin, waffle cones, a sauerkraut stomper and a massage roller, complemented by turned boxes. The wood comes almost exclusively from private gardens in the Bremen area; the business purchases special garden wood from fruit and ornamental trees. During selection and processing, special characteristics of the tree are preserved, such as color variation between heartwood and sapwood, ingrown branches, filled cracks or color changes caused by fungal influence, which give the pieces individual structures. On request, the business also produces custom items from wood supplied by the customer, for example as keepsakes. In addition, open woodturner meetings take place in the workshop, and the products are sold through markets and retailers.
