About the Sawmill
Hermann Huxohl & Sohn GmbH & Co. KG is a medium-sized family business founded in 1927 in Gütersloh-Niehorst and operates a pure contract sawmill with around 12 employees and an annual sawing capacity of approx. 15,000 fm. The company specializes in the processing of valuable hardwoods, softwoods and tropical timbers from Germany, Europe and all over the world. Sawing is carried out on two horizontal Schulte headrigs (block band saws), processing logs up to approx. 2.50 meters in diameter, 13.50 meters in length and up to 22 tonnes in weight; logs with a diameter of four meters have already been processed. Special cuts include quarter-sawn, half quarter-sawn and flat-sawn cuts of heavy logs, sawn veneer cuts up to 12 meters in length, burl clusters and extra-long lengths for boat and shipbuilding. In addition, the sawmill offers milling-head debarking, professional stacking, technical drying in three computer-controlled fresh-air/exhaust-air drying chambers with a 300 m³ capacity, storage and its own haulage fleet with special transports including customs clearance. Customers include timber importers, timber traders, yacht and boat yards, musical instrument manufacturers and sculptors.
