About HESTO
Hesto Elektronik GmbH, based in Langen near Frankfurt, has been developing and manufacturing industrial measurement technology since 1970. Its core business is HLC thermal conductivity measuring instruments as heat flow meter devices in accordance with ISO 8301, EN 12667, EN 1946-3 and EN 12664 for determining the thermal conductivity of insulation materials. The portfolio includes floor-standing and benchtop devices for specimens from 200×200 mm to 500×500 mm as well as automatic specimen feeding systems (RSH2/RSH3/RSH5) for 24-hour continuous operation. The instruments are used in in-house quality control of insulation material production by manufacturers in Europe and beyond, as well as in building-authority-approved testing institutes such as FIW Munich, EMPA and LNE. Electronic modules are sourced from specialists; the functions are programmed and the devices, including the mechanics, are manufactured entirely in-house. In addition to device sales, HESTO offers thermal conductivity measurements as a service, along with consulting, support, maintenance and free software updates under a maintenance contract.

Methods & Standards
Heat Flow Meter method
Measurement in accordance with ISO 8301, EN 12667, EN 1946-3 and EN 12664 with ± 3 % accuracy; two sensors in a symmetric arrangement deliver voltage signals proportional to the heat flow.
Automatic specimen feeding systems RSH2/RSH3/RSH5
Feeding automation for one or two HLC measuring instruments for decoupled continuous monitoring.

Quality & Reproducibility
Calibration is performed using reference material from the accredited external monitoring bodies (FIW, EMPA, LNE, materials testing institutes). In practice, the reproducibility tolerance is well below ± 1 %; correct functioning can be verified at any time by re-measuring a supplied, long-term stable test specimen.
