About HIC CONSULTING
HIC Consulting GmbH is an independent, owner-managed strategy consultancy with engineering DNA, headquartered in Hamburg. The company supports municipalities, energy utilities, grid operators, industrial and real estate companies, and public sector actors in decarbonization – from analysis through planning and strategy to implementation. The service portfolio includes decarbonization and resilience strategies, energy system modeling, large heat pump and large heat storage projects, municipal heat planning, district heating transformation, technical due diligence, policy analysis, regulatory and funding advisory, as well as carbon accounting, greenhouse gas accounting and sustainability reporting (CSRD). Since 2016, HIC has operated the certification office for the green electricity label ok-power (today EnergieVision). Around 45 experts work at the Hamburg, Berlin and Lindau locations. Until 2025, the company operated as HAMBURG INSTITUT, which remains in place as a home for applied research on energy, heat and climate topics.
