About Hilton Kommunal
Hilton Kommunal GmbH, based in Gehrden near Hanover, is a manufacturer of two-way special vehicles for rail network operators, local public transport, tunnel operators and rail infrastructure service providers. The company develops and manufactures overhead line installation vehicles, rail and tunnel cleaning vehicles, recovery and rescue vehicles, auxiliary and shunting vehicles as well as two-way trailers – from compact 4x2 vehicles to heavy 8x4 versions with bogie technology for vehicle weights of 18 to 56 t. Manufacturing is carried out with a high level of in-house production depth: steel construction with certified welding engineers according to DIN EN ISO 3834-2 and EN 15085-2, FEM calculations, multi-body simulations of dynamic loads, and GRP manufacturing of chassis conversions. The basis is Mercedes-Benz Unimog and truck chassis with hydrostatic rail drive systems. The roots go back to 1920, when the Schörling company built rail cleaning vehicles; since the acquisition of Schörling Brock GmbH by the Hilton Group in 2009, the tradition has been continued in Gehrden under the name Hilton Kommunal. Within the Hilton Group, production takes place at the sites in Hanover (Gehrden, Germany) and Maastricht (Netherlands); a worldwide dealer network ensures sales and after-sales service.

Quality and Certification
Manufacturing is subject to a quality management system according to ISO 9001:2015; in steel construction, welding drawings specify every component, certified welders work only on their approved weld types, followed by inspection of dimensional accuracy and weld quality as well as sampling procedures such as X-ray, magnetic particle, ultrasonic testing and micrograph analyses.
