Hirschfelder Greifer- und Stahlbau GmbH HGS GmbH, based in Hirschfelde (Zittau, Saxony), was a mechanical and steel construction company that produced equipment for excavators, wheel loaders, as well as machinery and industrial parts. The portfolio included multi-rope grabs for ship loading and unloading and excavator operation – including special designs –, insertion and extraction grabs (including with transfer device, sprue extraction and integrated lifting), wear-resistant screen plates for the basic materials industry, welded rope sheaves, as well as the manufacture and repair of civil engineering equipment. In addition, the company carried out general steel construction work and plant repairs. Production was carried out mainly using steel construction methods with welding and joining processes. Customers came from mechanical engineering, the construction industry, the basic materials industry as well as shipping and port handling. The company was founded in 1992 and has been in liquidation since 3 December 2021.
