Hobby – Built for Life
Hobby-Wohnwagenwerk Ing. Harald Striewski GmbH produces caravans, motorhomes and van conversions at its main plant in Fockbek/Rendsburg in Schleswig-Holstein. The company, founded in 1967 by Harald Striewski, manufactures 13,000–17,000 vehicles seasonally on a 270,000 m² plant site; the export share is 40 percent. The body construction technology uses GRP, aluminium sheet, ABS/PMMA and HPL composite panels as well as XPS and PU foam insulation; PU foam parts such as corner elements and reinforcements are produced by injection moulding. The Hobby Group includes Fendt-Caravan GmbH, acquired in 1998, the Rendsburger Feuerverzinkerei founded in 1973 and, since 2013, Formlight GmbH, which manufactures furniture components for caravans and motorhomes. With more than 350 authorised dealers in Europe as well as sales representatives in Chile, New Zealand, South Korea and China, Hobby is represented throughout Europe. The company employs more than 1,200 staff and provides training in six apprenticeship occupations.
