About the University
Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences is a public university of applied sciences founded in 1991 with locations in Magdeburg and Stendal. For companies in the automotive and automotive supplier industries as well as the fittings industry, the Industrial Laboratory for Innovative Manufacturing Processes (IL IFV) at the Magdeburg campus is particularly relevant: it offers service and development services in precision friction welding (including miniature components on CNC machines, cycloid friction welding, joining problematic material combinations), vertical friction welding with a KUKA Genius Power, friction stir welding and flow forming of aluminium blanks (REDAL project), as well as development, manufacture and testing of stone and belt finishing attachment devices. Materials used are aluminium and heat-resistant materials. For process force measurement, a mobile measuring platform for axial process and transverse forces up to 1000 kN is available. The Technology and Knowledge Transfer Centre (TWZ) coordinates research contracts, continuing education and dual study programs with regional and supraregional companies.
