About Hövels Hausbrauerei
Hövels Hausbrauerei is a house brewery on Hohen Wall in Dortmund's old town, belonging to the Radeberger Group within the Oetker Group. In the brew house, top-fermented beer is brewed in accordance with the German Beer Purity Law using a system of 20 hectoliters per batch, including the well-known Hövels Original with four malt varieties and an original wort gravity of 12.5%, as well as rotating seasonal beers such as Zwickel, Kellerbier, Craftbock and Ur-Export. The roots go back to 1518, when the von Hövel family held the brewing rights at the Hövel farm; in 1854 the brewery and maltery 'von Hövel, Thier & Co' was founded. In addition to serving beer in the restaurant and beer garden, the brewery supplies keg beer to hospitality businesses and distributes bottled beer through retail. In addition, the establishment offers brewery tours, brewing seminars and beer tastings and trains beer brewers.
