About Holzwerk Baur
Holzwerk Baur GmbH is a sawmill in Wain in Upper Swabia, managed as a family business in its fifth generation. On a commercial and production site covering 100,000 m², the company processes 180,000 solid cubic metres of roundwood annually, sourced predominantly from sustainably managed forests within a 100-km radius. The product portfolio comprises sawn timber, planed goods, garden timber, solid structural timber (KVH, finger-jointed KVH up to 14 m in length and 320 mm in width), packaging timber and residual wood. Production includes debarking, measuring, cross-cutting and sorting the roundwood, profiling into square timber at a throughput of 80 m/min as well as cutting with up to ten saw blades into boards, frames and planks; in addition there is planing work, machine drying and, since 1933, wood impregnation. In a closed production cycle, residual wood is utilised almost completely: wood chips, sawdust, planer shavings and bark go to paper mills, chipboard manufacturers, the filler industry, landscaping, and to an own heating plant. Customers come from construction and carpentry, gardening and landscaping, and the packaging, paper and filler industries; sales are conducted nationally and internationally.
